Last month, Health Canada announced the recall of two lots of laxative tablets manufactured by a Canadian company. The company manufactures generic medicines and has a sister company that produces branded and over-the-counter (OTC) products. The tablets, sold in Quebec and Ontario in 100 tablet bottles and 1,000 tablet bottles, were recalled due to microbial contamination concerns.
According to the recall notice: Ingesting the contaminated product may result in symptoms including abdominal discomfort or pain, diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting. Children, pregnant women, the elderly, and people with a weakened immune system may be more susceptible to adverse effects from microbial contamination.
