Health Canada recently announced the recall of a brand of day cream used to treat dry skin due to the possible presence of microbial contamination. The product batch that is part of the recall was manufactured in Canada. Over 800 units were sold in Canada from September 2024 through February of this year.
According to the recall notice posted by Health Canada:
The recalled product does not meet microbial standards over time. The product may contain a microorganism called Lactobacillus pentosus. Lactobacillus pentosus (a probiotic) poses little medical risk to people.
Fortunately, at the time of the recall notice, the company had not received any reports of incidents or injuries in Canada. Consumers are advised to immediately stop using the recalled product and to contact the manufacturer and distributor for a refund.
